Submission Guidelines
We welcome poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction from writers all over the world. Please read the guidelines carefully before sending your work.
Before You Submit
Submissions are open year-round. Please read the following guidelines before submitting.
Writers from anywhere in the world are welcome to submit. Submissions may include other languages, but the primary language of the work must be English.
We accept unpublished works, and works not generated or assisted by AI. Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but if your work is accepted elsewhere, notify us promptly.
All submissions must be in electronic form. Our preference is a single MS Word file (12-point font, single-spaced) sent to:
jewelliterarymagazine@gmail.com
Please do not send PDF files unless the formatting of your work makes it necessary.
In the body of your email, please include a brief cover letter, the word count of your submission (for prose), the number of poems submitted (for poetry), and a short author bio.
Please format your email subject line as "Genre + Submission." For instance, a poetry submission should have the subject line: "Poetry Submission." We strive to respond to all submissions within 2–4 weeks.
By submitting work to us you grant us a non-exclusive license to publish your work in any form we see fit. If we publish your work online, we may include it in a printed edition. Copyrights of all work published in Jewel Literary Magazine remain with the author.
At this time, we do not offer payment to contributors. We hope to provide compensation in the near future.
What We Accept
Poetry
Poems of any length may be submitted. Each submission may contain up to 3 poems, totalling no more than 5 pages. Please don't submit 10 poems and ask us to pick 3.

You may submit fiction in three formats: flash, short stories, hybrid forms — all in 2,000 words or less. A maximum of two pieces per submission. We also accept longer forms of fiction occasionally.
Non-Fiction
We accept memoir, cultural essays, personal essays, travel adventures. Two pieces, each not more than 2,000 words, may be submitted.
Thanks for your interest in Jewel Literary Magazine.
We look forward to reading your work.
